The front of a villa between the great trees, its antique door open

A villa of your own.

The villa · Concession NG17

Six villas, and no shared walls.

Four for two and two for families, each set apart among the trees, with its own deck, its own pool and its own stretch of floodplain.

Timber, canvas, copper and glass.

Built from the inside out, with a wall that opens onto the horizon.

01 / 06

A room with two heights.

The lounge opens the full width of the villa. Above it, the loft. Below, deep sofas, a writing desk and a wood burner for the cold mornings.

02 / 06

You sleep at the height of the trees.

The bed sits in the loft, facing the floodplain through glass. Nothing wakes you here but the light.

03 / 06

Hammered copper and panelled timber.

A wet room with double copper basins, a soaking tub indoors, and a shower that looks into the bush.

04 / 06

The other tub is outside, under a net.

Filled at first light, with the delta in front of it and nobody within sight.

05 / 06

The deck is the fourth room.

A temperature controlled pool, loungers under the trees and a hammock. Beyond the rail, the floodplain and whatever walks across it.

06 / 06

At night the villa is the only light for miles.

Lanterns along the boardwalk, the burner lit, the nets drawn. Botswana winters are cold at dawn. The villa knows it.

01The details

Everything you find was chosen, not ordered.

A door rescued and rehung. Copper basins beaten by hand. Soap and oils made for Elo and left by the bath. The village of things inside a villa is small, and all of it is meant.

02The lounge house

A second house, for the evenings.

Beside the main house, every villa has a second one. One for sleeping, and one for staying up: deep sofas, a billiard table, chess, a kitchen and a bathroom of its own. Nobody from another villa walks in.

Outside, nothing is shared either.

The pool, the sauna and the gym belong to the villa, and so do a fire circle and a deck for massage under the trees.

05The family villas

Two main houses, and everything else.

Two of the six are built for families. They have all that the other villas have, the lounge house, the pool, the sauna and the gym, with a second main house and a small service house with a bed and a bathroom. A family villa has three bedrooms and sleeps up to six. Children aged 12 and over are welcome, as everywhere at Elo; exceptions can be made on request. The guide, the six-seat vehicle and the chef are yours in the same way.
